Asbestos Awareness

Program Description

This Asbestos Awareness program is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of asbestos-related risks, regulations, and safe work practices as mandated by Ontario’s Designated Substance Regulation 278/05. 

 

The program aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify hazards and health risks, manage, and work safely around asbestos-containing materials.

 

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize common asbestos containing materials

  • Identify the different types of asbestos fibres

  • Discuss the health risks and latency periods associated with asbestos exposure  

  • Identify key elements of Ontario Regulation 278/05 

  • Discuss control measures to minimize asbestos exposure 

  • Identify personal protective equipment and safe work practices 

 

Target Audience 

Safety professionals, supervisors, joint health and safety committee members, individuals working with or around asbestos
