Confined Space

Program Description

 

Failure to identify hazards and have a solid entry plan prior to entering a confined space can lead to unwanted challenges that result on property damage, injury, or worse. 

 

This comprehensive program on Confined Spaces Awareness is designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of how confined spaces are defined and how to comply the Confined Space Regulation in Ontario. Participants will gain essential knowledge and skills to safely identify and assess hazards prior to entering and work in confined spaces, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The course focuses on theoretical components to enhance participants' competency and confidence in managing confined space activities.

 

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Define and identify confined spaces according to Ontario regulations

  • Explain the legal obligations and responsibilities of employers and workers in confined space operations

  • Develop skills in recognizing potential hazards within confined spaces (hazard assessment)

  • Outline the importance of entry permits and how to implement them

  • Gain knowledge of atmospheric hazards and the use of gas detection equipment

  • Identify and select appropriate PPE for confined space work

  • Develop an understanding of emergency procedures and communication protocols
