Lockout-Tagout (LOTO)

Program Description

 

This comprehensive 4-hour Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) course is designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of the principles and practices involved in energy control and equipment isolation. 

 

Lockout-Tagout is a critical safety procedure that prevents the unexpected energization or start-up of machinery and equipment, protecting workers from hazardous energy sources. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and case studies, participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to implement effective LOTO procedures in their workplace.

• Explain key definitions associated with lockout

• Identify the importance of lockout tagout

• Define hazardous energy sources and their associated risk 

• Recognize the importance of LOTO in preventing accidents and injuries

• Identify relevant regulations and standards related to LOTO

• Understand the roles and responsibilities of authorized employees, affected employees, and employers

• Identify common energy sources in the workplace

• Recognize different types of energy isolation devices and their applications

• Explain the importance of effective communication and coordination during lockout procedures
