Propane Handling (400-01)

Program Description

 

This course is designed to provide participants with comprehensive training on the safe handling, storage, and transportation of propane cylinders and the safe use of direct and indirect propane fired portable heaters used in construction and other temporary heating applications. This program also includes hand-held propane torches rated up to 400,000 BTU’s.

 

Learning Outcomes 

 

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the chemical properties and hazards of propane 

  • Describe the purpose, of torches, hoses, fittings, and regulators

  • Identify the different sized propane cylinders and storage requirements

  • Describe the categories of hazards and the process of recognizing, assessing, controlling. and evaluating hazard controls

  • Discuss preventative measures, PPE requirements and First Aid

 

Target Audience 

Individuals who fill propane cylinders, auto propane tanks, and those who use tiger torches
