Respiratory Protection

Program Description

 

MSW’s Respiratory Protection program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to use respiratory protection safely and effectively in their workplace. The course covers essential topics such as respiratory hazards, types of respirators, proper selection and use, fit testing, and maintenance. Through a combination of interactive discussion, and hands-on demonstrations, participants will gain a thorough understanding of respiratory protection principles and regulations, enabling them to contribute to a safer work environment.

 

Learning Outcomes 

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common respiratory hazards in the workplace

  • Recognize the potential health effects associated with exposure to respiratory hazards

  • Comprehend the importance of respiratory protection in preventing occupational illnesses

  • Differentiate between various types of respirators, including filtering face pieces, half-face respirators, and full-face respirators

  • Understand the limitations and applications of each type of respirator

  • Demonstrate the ability to properly inspect and maintain respiratory protection equipment

  • Learn the criteria for selecting the appropriate respirator based on workplace hazards

  • Understand the importance of a proper fit and perform a user seal check

  • Practice correct donning and doffing procedures for different types of respirators

  • Explain the purpose and importance of fit testing
